We’ve all enjoyed those BuzzFeed listings and YouTube videos on questions parents (more so Indian parents) ask about Twitter, Facebook or any technology in general. Their lack of knowledge or in some cases pure shock on how this “complicated world” operates has been a winning formula for most humour columns, videos and the like.
But here is a video that has a different take on this. As part of Google India’s inititative #TogetherOnline, an effort to get more women onto the internet, this video tells a simple story and is an absolute gem.
Drawing a comparison between the daughter’s first day at school, the concern & anxiety her mother went through for those few hours, to now the daughter’s nervousness & uncertainty on leaving her mother on her first initiation to the internet, touches a chord.
The bond between mothers and daughters has been explored over the years across brands and campaigns but this one certainly gets a thumbs up from us.
Why Go Viral picks this video
1) The new thinking to the overdone mother-daughter formula is refreshing
2) The script and thought is based on creating an emotional connect and this is translated without over dramatizing the video
