We always read short films made by Indians that do the round of film festivals around the world…but they never reach us…
Here is one by Pocket Films and its called Dum Dum Deega Deega.
This is a story about a boy who lives on the street. His alcoholic father forces his children to beg. While the sister makes her peace with her situation, our little hero refuses to.
The scene where his drunk father runs after him and locks the boy up because he is refusing to beg, is both comic and tragic. But Ajju as he is called, will NOT beg. He ‘gets’ himself an umbrella, starts a business. He warms the cockles of the hearts of his customers with his service and refreshing candour.
This is the story of each and every boy and girl who we meet on the streets as they beg for our attention and money. The same ones who want to break out from the vagaries of their sad lives and achieve something bigger.
Ajju gives it back to the world without ever feeling bad for his situation. He is a fighter. And you will love him for it.
Go Viral likes the film because
1) Good writing, dialogues and script.
2) Characters are relatable, acting clean.
3) Film with a clear message, though they could have done away with the preachy commentary.
