A Social Experiment!
“…this revolver, it’s the easiest gun we have to use. It’s our most popular one. It’s a 22-caliber, six-inch revolver,” says the shopkeeper. “It’s also a gun that a five-year-old found in his parents’ bedroom, went down and shot his nine-month-old baby brother with it.” Bone chilling!
For this film, the States United to Prevent Gun Violence set up a fake gun store in New York City. The store sells guns with “history”! The weapons are fake, the store does not exist but stories are true and reactions very real!
As AdWeek puts it, “to create drama, they put disturbing tags on each weapon, indicating which models were used in particular mass shootings, unintentional shootings, homicides and suicides. Needless to say, the fresh-faced buyers end up looking rather pallid by the end, and aren’t quite as excited to head home with a firearm.”
“Collectors love this one,” the actor playing shopkeeper tells one buyer . “Adam Lanza’s mom had this in her collection, too, until he took this and several other guns and killed her and and went down to Sandy Hook and killed six teachers and 20 innocent children. Twenty little kids, gone, like that.”
